BAKERSFIELD, California -- Jess Motorsports driver Rick Ruzbarsky
made his Grand National West debut at the fastest half-mile in the west,
Mesa Marin Raceway, in the October Classic 150 presented by
StarNursey.com. The #51 Crystal Pools/Cull Plumbing Monte Carlo was
delivered to the track race ready by Bill McAnally Racing and the driver
was able to hit the track for a few laps during the rain shortened
practice his first time in the car. The crew made a few minor
adjustments and Ruzbarsky ran a lap of 19.512 during qualifying, the
92-mile per hour lap garnered a top five starting position on the grid.
The 27th annual October Classic wrapped up the event with the Grand National West field taking the green flag under threatening weather conditions. Driver Rick Ruzbarsky was consistent throughout the race, rarely falling farther back than seventh position despite six yellow flags due to tire and engine problems running rampant through the field. Unfortunately contact with another car resulted in a cut tire for the Crystal Pools/Cull Plumbing car on lap 140 bringing out the final caution of the day. The crew changed right side tires and got Ruzbarsky back on track to finish the race in 12th position despite a broken sway bar. “This was a great learning experience for the team and we’re happy with the showing we made in our first race with a top five qualifying run.” said Ruzbarsky, “We’d like to thank Bill McAnally Racing for the opportunity and the NAPA crew for their input and a great car.” Jess Motorsports looks forward to the 2005 season and competing in one of the West Coast’s premier series. |
